One of the hardest things about being an unpublished writer is not being able to talk about what you’re working on.
Okay, I can talk about what I’m working on but I can’t spill too much because I want to save the fun details for the future, when I’m ready to publish.
But I’d like share more about what I’m writing, so every month I’ll post an update without giving away any spoilers.
So, without further ado, here’s what I wrote in July 2022:
-Started draft one of a standalone friends to lovers
I wish I could say I finished this draft because I’m very into this book, but I got interrupted by more pressing needs of the series I’m going to publish next year. I should be able to finish it next month, though.
-Got back developmental edits for the third book in the series I’m publishing next year and worked on edits
I expected my developmental editor to love this book as much as she loved the first two books, but I was shocked when I got back her notes and discovered…she did not. So I had to abandon the book I was working on (see above) and completely revamp the draft. I love the new version and hopefully she will, too.
-Started editing book one of the series I plan to release next year
The next step for this book is to be proofread, but since all the characters were fresh in my head thanks to the developmental edits for book three, I decided to go through the manuscript again. I’m happy to report there’s not a lot that needs to be changed, but I am catching some minor mistakes my copy editor did not.
That’s all for now. See you next month with new updates!
