Love by the Book Release Day

Today my fourth contemporary romance novel, Love by the Book, is available for purchase! If you’re interested in buying the ebook or paperback, click here, and thank you so much if you do. It’s a little hard to believe my fourth book is coming out. I have to say, it’s a lot less stressful releasing a standalone versus rapid releasing a series like I did last year. Do I recommend the rapid release method? On one hand, yes, because it’s fun to have all your books coming out so quickly. On the other hand, having three books come out one month apart each means a lot more work behind-the-scenes. Will I do it again one day? Almost certainly. As for …

Love by the Book

I’m so excited to announce the release of my next book, Love by the Book! It’s a standalone and has no connection to any of the characters or stories in the Tucson Is Where the Heart Is series. This novel is set in my hometown of Phoenix and the heroine owns a bookstore that only sells romance novels. Ready for a look at the cover? Here it is! Isn’t it gorgeous? I’m so happy with it! I just love the flowers and the pink and everything about it. Now, on to the blurb… Harlow Deyes is living her dream as the owner of Love by the Book, a bookstore dedicated to only selling romance novels. Unfortunately, business hasn’t been great …

How to Create a Fake Small Town

Today’s post is for a specific type of person. The type of person who wants to write a small town romance. More specifically, a fictional small town romance. Up until last year, I’d set all the books I’d ever written (close to one hundred) in real places around Arizona. Why? Because it’s easier. I know (or can look up) street names, tourist attractions, restaurants, and hiking trails and plug them into my book. It saves a lot of time. But there’s something really cool about making up a fictional town. There’s something addicting about picking an interesting name and coming up with the town’s history and deciding the population and the most popular place to eat breakfast and shop for …

Romance Authors on my Bookshelf

I tend to mostly post about my writing, (which I assume is what the majority of people who look at my blog want to read about), but this month I thought I’d share the authors I’ve loved enough to purchase their books. Way back in middle school when I first started reading romance, I bought so many books that my shelves were bursting in no time. Over the years, I’ve learned to borrow a book I want to read out of the library first, and if I love it, buy it. If I don’t love it, I don’t waste money on it. This philosophy has served me well, as only three shelves in my massive bookcase are occupied with romance …

Tropes I’ll Probably Never Write

Over the last decade of my life, I’ve come to embrace a cliché we all know and love: never say never. People change. Feelings change. You might swear you’ll never eat or do or say something one day and then five years later, find yourself eating, doing, or saying the thing you swore you wouldn’t. Or one year later, two years later, three years later, etc. The point is, life throws curveballs at you and there’s no way to know how you’ll respond. As a romance reader and writer, there are certain tropes I love and certain tropes I hate. Like most other writers, I tend to like to write tropes I love and stay away from tropes I hate. I …

Reflections on Writing Ten Books in Nine Months

At the end of last year, I decided to challenge myself to write a ten book series. Before then, the longest series I’d ever written had been four books. Most romance authors have several series going at once, and go back and forth between books, but I like to write the first drafts of a series all in a row, which meant writing ten books in a row. That’s a lot of books. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it. But yesterday, I wrote THE END on book number ten. I started book one mid-January. Finished book ten at the beginning of September. That’s ten books in nine months. Part of me can’t quite believe it. …

What I’m Currently Working On + Future Releases

Happy July! I feel weird saying that because those of us who live in Phoenix are not happy with the long string of days with temps in the 110-115 range. Ugh. I know other states and places around the world are also dealing with heat waves, too. The one time of the year I don’t love living in the Valley of the Sun is the summer. Maybe at some point in the future I’ll rent a place with cooler temperatures during the hot months so I can get not feel like I’m dying whenever I go outside. That would be lovely. On to writing updates! Right now, I’m on draft one of book EIGHT of a ten book series set …

Don’t Lose Hope Release Day

Today Don’t Lose Hope, the third book in my series, Tucson Is Where the Heart Is, comes out! I’m so excited and can’t wait for everyone to read about Hope finding her soul mate. Don’t Lose Hope is available for purchase in ebook and paperback on Amazon here. Just like I’ve done with the two other books in the series, Follow Your Bliss and Attract Good Karma, I’m going to share some fun facts about Don’t Lose Hope. Fun Fact #1 I used a sensitivity reader for the first time with this book. Hope, the heroine, is disabled and uses a wheelchair to get around. I’ve never had any experience with disability or being in a wheelchair, so I made …

Don’t Lose Hope Cover Reveal

I am so excited for today’s post! It’s time for the cover reveal and the announcement of the publication date of book number three in my Tucson Is Where the Heart Is series. Here is the gorgeous cover of Don’t Lose Hope. Isn’t it beautiful? I love it so much! I think it might be my favorite cover out of all three books, shockingly. At first, I thought the cover of Attract Good Karma was my favorite because it has a purple theme, and I adore purple. But something about the way the pinks and the turquoise and the greens meld together in the Don’t Lose Hope cover just takes my breath away. But enough about the cover! What’s the …

Attract Good Karma Release Day

Well, here we are on April 19th, almost two weeks after the release day of book two in Tucson Is Where the Heart Is, Attract Good Karma. You might be wondering what happened, so I’ll tell you: I hired a fabulous website designer, Jessica Lepe of Meet Cute Creative, and didn’t even think about the fact that my website would be inaccessible for a while as she worked her magic and that it would be down on the release day of Attract Good Karma. The good news is I absolutely LOVE my website makeover. It’s everything I ever wanted in an author website. The bad news is I didn’t get to post on release day, but better late than never, …
